Stoke resident Elizabeth Coleman has lived her whole life affected by the Hyde Railway Crash of 1943. The crash occurred in the Maniototo during World War II, a time when New Zealanders were already on edge and experiencing loss and traumatic change. Leading to the deaths of 21 people, including Elizabeth’s father and eldest brother, the Hyde Railway Crash has affected Elizabeth throughout her life.
