Recently, Sally Curtis of Motueka offered us her part Clydesdale horse named Tyson for a PetConnect visit. Tyson was a huge hit with the older people at The Wood and at the Enliven day programme . Tyson’s visit was incredibly moving for some and was talked about for days.
Tyson seemed, with a touch of his nose, to be able to draw memories and reactions from people that were at times emotional and all were beautiful. He and Sally attracted some media attention as a result and TV1’s Seven Sharp programme came to visit and film him at The Wood Retirement Village on a repeat visit last week. Follow the link to see the story .
We are looking forward to being able to share Tyson’s gift with more people in the region soon thanks to the generosity of his owner and soul buddy, Sally Curtis. Many older people are forced to give up their animals when they move into smaller accommodations and they miss them. We run regularly PetConnect events in rest homes, community centres and other aged-care facilities to give people the chance to connect over their love of animals.
