Davy Stuart, Alex Davidson, Barrie McDonald
‘The Ceol Merchants’
(Purveyors of Fine Traditional Music)
‘Ceol’ means music in both Irish and Scottish Gaelic and it’s the music of these countries that has been a lifelong passion for the group.
The names of the three musicians suggest links to Scotland and indeed, Davy is the ‘Scot’ from Edinburgh (he can see the Castle from the family home). Alex and Barrie, by heritage and a modicum of Fine Malt Whisky, helps to sway the DNA towards the Celtic tribes. Together they will play a selection of Airs from Scotland and Ireland, some will be lively Reels and Jigs, and they will also add a couple of the slower and more reflective pieces.
We hope to see you there.

Alex Davidson: Alex enjoys playing in traditional Irish and Scottish music sessions and has performed solo and in various groups and highland pipe bands for folk clubs and other venues in Wellington,
